Education 10 – Introduction to Educational Issues and Scholarship

This Big Ideas Essay presents a perspective on a current issue in education discussed during this course. Written as an editorial for a newspaper, it addresses the need for diversifying early education by supporting students with linguistic diversity and implementing a culturally relevant curriculum. Per the requirements, this paper addresses a research-based counter-argument involving increasing access to early childhood education.

Global Studies 103 – Global Governance
Winter 2021
This White Paper aims to provide policy suggestions to the Biden administration regarding relations between Saudi Arabia and the United States with regards to the crisis in Yemen. The full White Paper is eighteen pages and was completed as a group project for this course.
The excerpt in this portfolio along with the accompanying data visualization are my contributions to the project, fulfilling the paper requirement of providing a policy suggestion. The suggested approach to US-Saudi relations involves temporarily halting arms sales to Saudi Arabia with the intent of renewing assistance, supporting UN attempts at negotiating peace in Yemen, and reentering nuclear negotiations with Iran.

Comparative Literature 2DW – Survey of Literature Great Books from the World at Large
Fall 2020
This essay provides an analysis of gender and humor in Langston Hughes' Baltimore Womens. Drawing on examples from the story, this essay addresses how the author's use of comedic narration, status symbols, and euphemisms attempt to critique society.

This course also involved a rewrite of one of the papers completed. The rewrite of this essay addresses comments left on the initial paper and further expands upon the role of race in the work of Langston Hughes. Rewriting this essay further highlighted the problematic nature of social critique present in Baltimore Womens.

Geography 4 – Globalization: Regional Development and World Economy
Fall 2019
This analysis of Primark's global impact was completed as a research project on a transnational corporation. To address a topic of personal interest, the paper focuses on Primark's profitable fast-fashion business model and its corporate social responsibility practices. This paper examines the Rana Plaza factory collapse and includes original maps depicting the corporation's expansion and sourcing locations. ​
